Hip-Hop turns 47 years old today. Many will ask, how can we mark 1 specific day to the birth of a genre of music? In this case many will agree that it SHOULD be today, August 11. On this day almost half a century ago, folks in the Bronx set up a party hosted by local DJ Kool Herc to signal the end of summer. Little did anyone know that it would be the night that started what is today one of the biggest music genres in the world.
